I remember those days when I studied the book of Ecclesiastes. I was so inlove, like so eager to go from one chapter to another. I remember during leaders camp i stayed in the balcony every morning finishing up where I left off. I love reading how the wisest man on earth dealt with all his frustarations, struggles, disappointments and failures. It was nice to learn from how He have witnessed life and shared how vanity it was. I picked up bit by bit of wisdom everytime I turned the pages and exactly during camp i heard one great learning about wisdom that I will never forget.
There are two ways we gain wisdom. 1. We get wisdom by our own experience. 2. We gain wisdom from others experience. I will never forget what Pastor Wayne Cordeiro of Hawaii shared about wisdom. " It is good to gain wisdom from our own experience that is why we say experience is the best teacher but is it better to learn from others so we can eacape from going through the same thing. It is like one person who runs in the ramp down fast and ends up hitting his nose in the wall broke his nose and said, ouch that is painful! And one watching that man do it and said oww, it is painful to hit your nose in the wall i will surely not gonna do that. It is not a rocket science to know that it is painful for us to try it on and test it. That is exactly why King Solomon wrote the book of ecclesistes. It was for us to learn from his own experience so we can escape from the same ending. After all the learnings that i have learned from there I begun to be more eager to buy books and read. I love reading other evangelists, pastors, missionaries, leaders and simple christians experiences and downfalls. I love learning from them. I love picking up those bits of wisdom I can add on. I love learning from the people around me whether below or above me. I love to witness life that way. It was an awesome experience to be a noticer. I love reading the bible not part by part or cherry picked verses but the whole story. Why such verse was said. Learning from the whole story will tell us why God punished or what made God make such decisions. All of those people in the bible are great lives we should all learn from. And i therefore conclude it was awesome to both experience gaining wisdom from my own experience specially if they are the good ones and gaining wisdom from other peoples lives so I can learn from them, take note, try to apply to my life, try my best to refrain the same path or prepare myself to the worst and learn from their success as well so i have a guide and direction to begin with. I pray the same cry of King Solomon. He was pleading us all to really embrace that nature of accountability to God and to the people we love to help us grow more in wisdom. How do you want to gain wisdom? I suggest read the whole book of ecclesiastes. |
