"For the first time in a long time, I was required to STOP all of the worthy, kingdom-building things I was doing and take a look inside myself. Here's the question I sought and am still seeking to answer: "What do the poverty issues, the AIDS issues, the justice issues in our world demand of someone like me with the influence God graciously has given me?" This is an important question to answer because as a pastor, I believe my primary job is to teach what the Bible says about the great issues of the day. NOT SOME OF THE ISSUES, but ALL OF THEM. The number of times scripture mentions God's passionate concern for the poor, the oppressed, the widows, the orphans, those who are incarcerated, and those who have no voice is astounding!" - Bill Hybels (holy discontent)
This is exactly how I feel right now. There's a great value for me to keep doing what I am doing right now as a church leader because I believe every soul counts but there's that undeniable pain in my heart to reach out and share and speak to those people who have less opportunity to taste the beauty of this life we are given. My soul cries out to those who can't even have the glimpse of love in their oppressed life while we got all we have to let them have the feel of being loved. I only have one life, so as you! I want my one and only life be of the great value and worth by following my passion, my holy discontent for the people that will not just need my effort but I'm sure they will be the people that will show me and teach me how a great life can be. I want to have that life God intentionally design for me! How about you? James 4:14-15 14 whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what isyour life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. 15 Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” This is what stirs Mr Bill's heart and leads him to that thinking, James 4:26-27 "If anyone of you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one's religion is useless. Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep one self unspotted from the world." |
