I always find it amuzing how much I learned from every book I read. I just finished reading "Surviving Your Wilderness" by Daniel Kolenda. Every part of the thin book speaks so much. Are you in the wilderness right now? You must know these tips: #1. Don't Panic Do not fear! In any stranded and lost moment having no clarity at all will make things worst. If it happened to be like things are falling apart stay calm and be still and know the He is our God. Call upon him. Don't dare to move without certainty that it is from God. Listen! Don't do things out of your own strength when you are in spiritual wilderness you will make the situation worst! #2. Assess your Situation Why are you in the wilderness? Are you in a wilderness of opposition because of your disobedience to God? If we do or decide one thing which is in the opposite direction of what God wants us to do not very long you will find yourself in the wilderness. Lost and sinking down in the desert. Or Are you in the position of wilderness of promotion? Wherein God test you if you are worthy enough of the big things to come? You are in the wilderness becauae God wants to see if you can be trusted of the task He is calling you. God is preparing you in the wilderness so in that way if you make it until the end of the test still trusting God you will be stong to face the challenge. As what the Word says, God will never allow us to get tempted of the things beyond our capacity. Check your life. Maybe God is just testing you, don't give up and keep holding on to the Word of God! His promise is true and real. #3. Find Shelter! There is no greater shelter than the presence of God. I'm always amaze how God protects me when I'm about to get tangled in the wrath of wilderness. You see, on our most vulnerable moment that is the perfect time for satan to attack us. If we are not fully covered and sheltered in the presence of God we will surely collapse so easy. But the question is how can you find shelter during wilderness. Those times you may have been blinded by the tricks of the enemy. You maybe lost in the play of emotion, how will you find your way in the shelter of God? Go in the foot of the cross! Just surrender to God! Stop hiding from Him but instead hide in Him. #4. Build A Fire! I remember in the Fire Conference Evang. Reinhard shared that once he was interviewed and asked, "how do you keep the fire going?" He answered and said i don't need to do anything to keep it going because God Himself will keep it going. Don't try too hard to keep it burning becAuse once you keep on obeying God He will keep it burning." What if it went out? You are totally dry? How? Well then, the best time to worship God is when you feel like YOU DON'T LIKE IT! When you are in the wilderness choose to worship God slowly the fire will start go ignite again and you will be consumed with His burning Fire. 5. Drink Water I don't know how hot it is in the desert but just merely staying in the construction site at work for the whole day will sure cause me heat stroke, how much more in the wilderness? If you are in spiritual drought right now you better drink quickly or you will be eternally condemned. Jesus once said to the Samaritan woman in the well that whoever drinks of this world water will thirst again but whoever drinks of the water that comes from Him will never thirst again. KEEP YOURSELF HYDRATED WITH HIS PRESENCE! 6. Find Nourishment If i will be stranded in the desert I actually don't know how long i will survive without food. I hardly survive with my normal physical condition in a normal weather setup how much more in the wilderness? Same thing in our spiritual life. If you get hungry or tested and fail for a day of not reading the word of God and a week without proper guidance of the Word of God how much more when you are in the wilderness? When you are totally detached? How will you survive? Jesus said, men should not live by bread alone but with every word Of God. Friends! One day without food surely your physical body will get weak. Few more days i think most probably your system will collapse. Then now how about no food at all for your soul for many days? Do you think you will survive the temptations? Do you think you will survive your wilderness? God loves us that much. He will always do. He provides everything we need to survive, the only thing we need to do is acknowledge that we need help and Let God lead you. We should have learned from the experience of the Israelites on the wilderness by now. Its should have been a short and smooth trip! It should have been a wilderness of promotion. God just need to see if they are faithful enough to receive the promised land but rather it became road to destruction. The travel became a tragedy instead of fulfillment of the promise. Let's learn from them and Try our best not to repeat the same. Let's all together look forward to be in the promised land!!!! Hold on! The promised land awaits you and me! |
